THE SEASON APPROACHES
Basketball tryouts for all levels begin on Monday November 9th. Until that time, all players interested in playing are encouraged to attend CORE training (Mondays and Thursdays 3:15pm), open gyms (Wednesdays and Fridays 6:30am), and group shooting workouts which are available each day before or after school (please contact coach Broene).
The coaching staff is excited for the new season and is looking forward to getting started. Throughout my years of playing and coaching I have always reminded myself that I will "get out of 'this' whatever I put in to it." I challenge you all to put everything (energy, effort, attitude, intention) in to this season and see what great rewards we will receive as a result.
Lets have a great year!!

Andy Stuursma Competes in the McLegends All-Star Game
Last Saturday, April 18th, Andy had the opportunity to compete in the Coca-Cola McLegends All-Star Game at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The game features a roster of past high school legends from the south side versus a current roster of this years all-area players selected by the Southtown Star Newspaper. A few of the players on the Legends roster included current NFL wide recievers Antwan Randle El and Tai Streets, as well as NFL linebacker Napoleon Harris among many other talented players.
The game was very close throughout, ending in overtime on a last second bucket by Napoleon Harris. The final score of 126-125 showed that there was plenty of offense and plenty of entertainment for all the fans.
Andy said it was a great game, and that he had a lot of fun. He scored two buckets, handed out five a assists and had five rebounds. He mentioned that Antwan Randle El netted seven three pointers, but he was most impressed with Kenya Beach (Crete-Monee1996) who had 28 points.

Andy Stuursma Selected to All-Area Basketball Team
The Southtown Star newspaper selected Andy as a representative for their 16 person all-area team. Players selected to the all-area team can be from any size school on the southside of the chicagoland area. As you can imagine, earning this honor is a very prestigous distinction. In fact, Andy is the only player from a AA or A school on the team. All the other players that were seleceted were from bigger, AAA and AAAA, schools. Last night (April 8th), Andy was joined by his parents, and Coach Pittman, at the awards banquet to be recognized for this outstanding accomplishment. Congratulations Andy!! We are proud that you can represent Chicago Christian as one of the best players in the chicagoland area!!
